Background of the request

This Information Request was filed at a time when over four Permanent Secretaries in different ministries were indicted on corruption-related charges. The IGG refused to grant us access to these record, and we have therefore filed a case against government. This court case will be heard on 8th January 2014.

The IGG refused to disclose this information citing several reasons, but most importantly the fact that the law does not prescribe which form to release this information. IGG also claimed that the PS’ could sue her if this information was disclosed. HIM applied for an order of Mandamus from court, and it will be heard on 8th January 2014.
